1968 Gibson Super 400

$8,295.00

This 1968 Super 400 is a fine specimen of Gibson's top of the line guitar. When I got the guitar it needed some love. There is very little fret wear on the original frets but it does have yellowing of the binding which happens with age and from the pickguard gassing off. The pickguard had crumbled, ruined the pickup covers, pickguard hardware and tarnished the frets. I replaced the pickguard with a new Super 400 pattern, new pickup covers on the original patent number pickups, newer tune-o-matic Gibson bridge, the wooden bridge is also included. The frets cleaned up and the finished buffed out nicely. We also had to reset the neck and now it plays beautifully like it should.

The Super 400 has a 18" inch lower bout with a 3.5" depth with oversize headstock, 251/2 scale length, nut width is just about 1 3/4, 5 piece bound neck. Looks like the guitar was originally ordered with Imperial tuners.  It does have lots of finish checking but no cracks and no dings. This 60's axe comes with the original hardshell case which is in great shape! Serial # 542984 Priced well under what a Florentine 60's Super 400 goes for, don't hesitate on this one.
